The weather is looking good this weekend and Sunset Valley Chicks is at three locations with all our chooks and ducks just for you who want to either top up with a layer or two or get yourself a pretty little flock going with our silkies and other breeds now off heat and ready to find their new homes.

We have last of our white commercial layers (next lot taking orders for May) but we are lucky enough to still offer you the brown commercial layers at 16-18 weeks old which point of lay is 16-24 weeks usually, so perfect to get eggs right through winter with this lot! The way things are going with egg shortage we are still able to source these out for you (sorry no rescues available and honestly at this time of year rescues start going through the moult so pullets in our eyes is the way for eggs through winter!)

Are we taking day olds to the markets? We are but as Valley Produce Wallan is our first event off the back if you want day olds please come there as YES we still have day old chicks unsexed though now limited in whats available as our hatching soon finishes for the season but for those that want to satisfy that clucky chook we have some! This week we have hatched some blue egg layers (dads a aracauna) so your assured bllue eggs if theyre girls plus we have hatched some naked necks with a creme legbar dad as my project is to offer those that want fun and funky in their pens – why not a naked neck blue egg layer. Other breeds – dark brahmas theres a few there for anyone that loves the big breed.  SORRY no fertile egg available anymore.

We have our next batch of silkies NOW AVAILABLE 16-18 weeks old and guaranteed girls and plewnty of colours for all three markets so if you want fluff heads in your pens these are adorable. PLEASE note silkis do best in pairs or more as they huddle not perch generally. YES they do lay but we suggest kept sseperate from your existing flock as oyther birds can be bossy and these are sensitive souls at this age and really any age until they settle in.

Pure breeds YES we are continuing to offer some of our breeds as they come off heat (can be outside with out a heat source and generally those that come down to the events we are at early get to pick some awesome birds. Unfortunately time is limited and we dont have the lists of everything each week but again to entice you we have heaps of bantams for those that have a small barkyard or have the love of the smaller bird. We have some 10-12 week old sussex, silver barnevelders, and other bibg breeds too.

This weekend we have been asked for geese and ducks so at all three markets come have a look at our variety and justy maybe you may be taking home some water fowl as well.

We have boxes for easy transport though we say if you have pet crates better if you are transporting them when its warm. YES we also have eftpos but as they say cash is good too!

Oh also for those that have enquired about surrendering poulty at these events. Easy catch them when its dark as they cant see generally well and makes it easy and once you get them to us we have cages we can set them up in with water and feed.
