A favourite for those that love big birds!

The Orpington is a British breed of chicken. It was bred in the late nineteenth century by William Cook of Orpington, Kent in south-east England. It was intended to be a dual-purpose breed, to be reared both for eggs and for meat, but soon became exclusively a show bird and a very much-loved breed to add to your flock. They lay about 190 eggs a year. The egg is a light brown shade.

We have buff standard Orpington colour only but do have bantam lavender and black Orpingtons at Sunset Valley Chicks as well.

They are a friendly calm natured bird a very popular breed amongst our followers.
